Being Black Hurts

Hi there friends, it’s me! First things first: I hope you and your family are staying in good health during this time. As far as myself, I’m doing great, by God’s grace. My heart is full, I am grateful! I  know it’s been a while since I last published a new blog post. So much is happening in our world. It’s a lot. I  have been searching for words to write about how I’ve felt during these past few weeks. I’m stuck.

So I’ve been thinking and I’ve decided to spice things up a bit around here. Starting now I’ll be doing round-up style posts at the end of each month, highlighting some of the things going on in my life.

Let’s get into it.

Like many of you, we welcomed 2020 with excitement to conquer our dreams and goals. Then things got real. Starting with Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and seven others who died in a tragic helicopter crash back in January. May their souls Rest In Peace. Then Corona came out of nowhere shutting businesses down, leaving families mourning, and canceling all music/sports events. We are stuck in our house, can’t go anywhere. Yes, emotions are high right now. As if this wasn’t enough, we out here still fighting racism in the middle of a global pandemic. Another black man was killed by the police, another name added to the hashtags.

I  experienced just about every emotion under the sun in the past few months.

Confused

Sad

Fear

Scared

Motivated

Grateful

Just when you thought we’ve come so far but really nothing has changed. Social Media is the worst thing that ever happened to our government. I’m tired of my people getting killed. Enough is ENOUGH!

I pray. For my Dad; Boyfriend, Brother, Cousins, Uncles, Friends.

I’m so proud to be apart of a generation that is fighting for change, for a world in which all people are treated fairly regardless of race and gender. It’s more refreshing to see white people taking a stand to lead the change to transform America’s deep-seated culture of white supremacy. The hope is to leave a better America for our future children.

2020 isn’t cancelled.

2020 = Year of Perfect Vision. If you wear glasses then you know that’s considered perfect vision. Well in the midst of all this foolishness I truly believe God’s perfect vision is available to be unfolded in our life if we accept (free will). I’ve accepted and since life and death are in the power of the tongue I’m speaking life into this year, it’s been an amazing year for me thus far in the midst of all the world’s turmoil. I’m still looking forward to all the wonderful blessings God has for me this year. Through it all, there’s something calming about the world being at a complete standstill. I’m learning to be more present and intentional in every area of my life.

Be blessed.

This year is something else forreal. Amongst everything else going on, it’s a struggle to keep your head above water while trying not to drown in anxiety. Information overload from the news & social media. Wishing you GOD given peace & the same to anyone else who reads this post.
