Life Lessons at 28

OOTD Details: Suit and Coat thrifted // Scarf:Zara// Shoes:Steve Madden

Hi Friends, this post was supposed to go live on my birthday because turning 28 on the 21st day of the first month of the 21st century is a damm BIG deal. I can admit that I was in a funk so I never finish writing this post or even scheduled it to go live on time. The wintertime is hard for me (you understand if you suffer from seasonal depression), especially January and February. My old friend writer’s block also came by for a visit. So, I wrote. Erased. Deleted.

As you get older you find out that true happiness is not in how much you make or how big your house is or how many degrees you have. It’s finding peace and joy in the calmness in your life that will soon become the most important thing to you.

I’ve been flowing into the “everything is coming together,” phase of my journey. Dedicating myself to well, myself, to God, to positive relationships, and healthy habits. I’ve been spending time, and only giving time to things that uplift and enhance the person that I am. If I don’t leave a place with smile lines from happiness, I don’t want to return. I want to spend these days laughing louder and longer, and having talks about my future, my goals, my success to come.

Life is good, beautiful, and filled with painful moments. Through it all it’s good.

I believe that the life that God has for us it’s in our imagination.

I had a big imagination as a little girl. The deepest of my heart and thoughts were in my journals. I  love calling on my imagination to tell me the story I  was born to tell with my life. I have always dreamed of what it would look like to have my specific version of truth and beauty come to life. I took a journey to find the blueprint that already existed inside of me. the one I’d forgotten existed.

The unearthed the unseen order: her original plan.

I  live a narrow life because I  have a vision for my life. I  know where I’m going and know what roads won’t take me there. I’ve never been happier. I’m so grateful every day that I  chose myself. My life is filled with an awesome partner, amazing friends, a great career, and endless possibilities. I’ve never felt so free to be ME.

What I have learned…

  • I am a priory of my own life
  • Guilt is a feeling, not a fact
  • Advice I hear from others is not always meant for me, and that’s okay
  • I am allowed to express myself in ways that work best for me
  • It’s okay to say Yes/No
  • My dreams are valid
  • How I treat myself resonates into the world and reflects how others feel around me
  • My journey is a path that I choose
  • I cherish who I am
  • Grief is love
  • Love yourself more because it’s the holy grail of happiness
  • Luxury is a feeling, not a price point
  • Financial Freedom is luxury
  • Vulnerability is not weakness; It’s courage
  • You don’t have to struggle in silence
  • Seek therapy
  • Be a good friend
  • Life is hard
  • who you are is what makes you special
  • Take risks
  • Live full. Die empty
  • Do not be afraid to explore
  • Reading is key to success
  • Take pictures of everything
  • Love deep
  • Compassion makes you beautiful
  • Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can
  • Be you. Love you. All ways. Always

Overall, my birthday was amazing! My baby went above and beyond to make it special. My heart is full.

Thank you for your kind birthday wishes. I feel blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.

As always, thank you reading my words
