Every Great Love Starts With a Great Story

Sometimes I sit back and reminisce in awe to myself how I ended up meeting the love of my life. Growing up, I would have never thought that my future husband would not be of Haitian descent, would be born and raised in New Orleans (My favorite City), and I would meet him in Atlanta.

From the moment we met, we clicked instantly.

We met 2 years ago on this day and been rockin’ ever since. I thought it would be appropriate to share the story on how we met. It’s my absolute favorite story to tell!

It was August 2017, my girlfriend Allison invited the crew (Shout out to 1532) to a quick weekend trip to Atlanta. Of course, I never missed a good opportunity to turn up with my girls. That Friday night, we went to a bar called Hole-in-the-wall. It was at this bar our stars aligned on the dance floor to the greatest song of all time “Back That Azz Up” feat. Mannie Fresh and Lil Wayne – Juvenile, 400 Degreez, 1999.

We exchanged names, then he asked for my number. For the first time, I did not hesitate to give out my number to a stranger. The next morning we did what any person would do to learn more about someone they just met. As we texted, conversation flowed. he had my attention! It was the most effortlessly natural connection I had ever experienced. He insisted that he wanted to see me before I fly back home on Sunday. I agreed for him to stop by my hotel on his way home. I stayed up late waiting for him and promised my girls that I will not get in the car with him. When he pulled up, his best friend David was in the passenger seat. He asked if I could accompany him to drop off his friend home because he was looking forward to talking to me. Totally ignoring the promise I made to my girls, I hopped in the back of his navy blue camaro. On the drive back to my hotel, I politely reminded him that if he was looking for a booty call that he had the wrong girl, we both laughed. He walked me to my door, gave him a hug, and said goodnight.

We continued to text, then one day he randomly called me on FaceTime, and he hasn’t stopped. After two months of consistency, I booked a flight back to Atlanta to go on our official first date. That weekend was eventful! We had so much fun! It felt easy. I remember texting my cousin Cassie “I’m going to marry this guy” LOL. After a terrible breakup, I never thought I would meet someone who would love me for me. He not only met all of those “check-list needs” but also exceeded every expectation. He is handsome, caring, funny, smart, respectful, family-oriented, competitive, athletic, and more. While I never anticipated meeting him that night, it remains true that God’s path for our lives was far greater than anything we could have planned for ourselves.

Thank you for being the love I needed when I thought I didn’t need love. It changed me. It softened me. And even though I didn’t know at the time, it saved me.

I love you forever
